Today Is The Best Day Of My Life

Today

A few weeks ago I was visiting the High School of my oldest grandson. I was walking toward the front door as an older gentleman about 75 years of age entered. He was the picture of enthusiasm. A slim and trim figure, he walked quickly and energetically. He was wearing a white shirt and black tie while carrying a large brief case in his hand. I surmised he was probably a sales rep calling on the school. He cut an impressive figure. Someone forgot to tell him he was 75 and over the hill.

With a head full of white hair and a broad smile on his face he walked by me with a friendly “hello”. I responded with “hello, how are you doing?” Without hesitation or missing a step he turned and replied, “Today is the best day of my life” and then kept on walking. I was stunned.

As I watched him confidently enter the principal office, I was struck with the power and truth of that statement: “Today is the Best Day of my Life”.

Sitting in my SUV later, I continued to meditate on those words. What a truth. What a self-fulfilling prophesy. What a life changing statement. “Today is the Best Day of my Life”.

Yesterday is gone forever and shall never return. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Today is all you have and perhaps it is the last day of your life. Why not make it the best day of your life?

We should maximize each day God has given us. Love our family with all our heart. Be productive in whatever God has given us to do. Keep a positive attitude at all times and give God praise and glory.

Isn’t that what the Bible teaches?

TODAY
Psalm 118:24 “Today is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

YESTERDAY
Isaiah 43:18  “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past.

TOMORROW
Matthew 6:34  “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.”

LIFE IS SHORT
James 4:14  “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

TODAY IS ALL WE HAVE
Philippians 4:8-9   “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
